Guatemala is about the size of the state of Tennessee. It borders Mexico and Belize on the north, Honduras and El Salvador to the east, and stretches from the Pacific to the Caribbean. Overall, Guatemala enjoys warm days and cool evenings year-round. The population is 13,824,463. Life expectancy at birth is 70.88 years [male: 69.03 years, female: 72.83 years]. Prevalence of HIV/AIDS: 0.8%. 80% of the population lives in poverty – 66% of those living in extreme poverty. We encourage medical and non-medical volunteers to use their God given talents to help others. During yearly international medical missions, we hold free clinics, treating common medical conditions, and performing minor surgeries.
